Viruses and Microcompartments
Virus and bacteriophages are a major focus of cryo-electronmicrosopy studies to understand structure, dynamics, and assembly of virus capsids. In addition, viral entry into host cells has been a topic of long-standing interest at MSU.
Microcompartments are bacterial organelles with virus capsid-like shells that are involved in sequestering certain cellular components to facilitate certain metabolic processes.
